What makes a shower screen different from a shower curtain/liner?

Shower screens operate as two discrete panels that work in tandem as opposed to one monolithic sheet of material.

Shower screens use two rigid frames that slide along the shower rod, allowing the panels to be snapped on and off quickly and easily, as opposed to using a plurality of shower rings or hooks to string the curtain/liner to the shower rod.

Shower screens are always kept flat even when the shower is left open and not in use. This allows both the shower stall and the panels to dry, minimizing mildew and mold in the shower. This is not possible with a curtain/liner.

Shower screens create a different aesthetic in the bathroom, revealing the space vs covering it up. The simple design and construction conveys a clean elegance that is modern, minimal, and utilitarian.

What are the shower screen dimensions?

Frame (when assembled):
29" w x 14" h

PEVA Snap-Panel:
30” w x 57” h

Total dimensions:
30" w x 70" h

Does a shower screen work with all bathtubs?

The shower screen is designed for the standard 60" alcove bathtub.

It is NOT designed for freestanding, clawfoot style bathtubs.

Does a shower screen work on all types of shower curtain rods?

The shower screen frame works great with any shower curtain rod: Straight, Curved, or Double.

If you have an L-shaped rod, you may be able to use NUUD shower screens, but it would require three screens. At this point in time we only offer kits with two screens.

If you have a Rectangular curtain rod, shower screens won't be the best solution. You could benefit by using the screens on the side you access the tub from, but you'll probably want to continue using a conventional curtain to cover the other three sides of your bathtub.

Will shower screens work for walk-in style showers?

If you can use a conventional straight, curved, or double shower curtain rod across your walk-in shower space you should be able to use NUUD shower screens. Send us an email if you have any doubts.

Are replacement panels available?

Individual replacement panels aren't available, yet, but they are coming soon. Sign up for our email list and you'll be the first to know when they arrive.

Are we aware of the fact that the permanent glass (stationary) panels installed in walk-in showers and alcove tubs are also referred to as shower screens?

Yes, we are - and NUUD shower screens are not those.

How do I install my shower screen? Is assembly required?

It's as easy as 1, 2, 3.

  1. Assemble the frame: attach the hooks to the bamboo bar.
  2. Hang the assembly from your shower rod.
  3. Snap your EVA panel to the bar - and you are ready to shower NUUD.

(Repeat steps 1-3 if using 2 screens - as most will.)

How do I clean my NUUD shower screen?

For starters, (unless you’re looking for that shabby chic wrinkled look), do not put the EVA panel in the washing machine.

NUUD shower screens are completely seamless. That means there are no built-in features of the panels for mildew and mold to grab hold.  Soap scum and scale buildup can provide a foothold for mildew, though. To remove soap scum and scale, give the panels a quick wipe down with a simple solution of vinegar and water (1:4) every now and then and they will last many times longer than a conventional liner.

(A melamine sponge works miracles, but these break down and release melamine into our environment. Be aware.)

Tips:

  1. Soap causes "soap scum." If you want to stop experiencing it, investigate using a cleanser bar that is not soap.
  2. Don't let your screens dry against the tub. Place your bath mat in between the two.
What is the snap-panel made out of?

Ethylene Vinyl Acetate (EVA) - also known as Polyethylene Vinyl Acetate (PEVA)

Is NUUD packaging recyclable?

NUUD shower screens are shipped in fully recyclable cardboard.

Are NUUD shower screens good for the environment?

Great question. We recognize that making stuff and using stuff has consequences. The most effective way we know to mitigate environmental impact is to offer people a thoughtfully designed product that results in less resource consumption, and then to join in the endeavor to clean up our messes.

Two NUUD shower screens use ⅔ the material of one conventional shower liner. (We're not even considering the curtain that is often used with a liner.)

Furthermore, because shower screen panels stay free of mildew longer and are much more easily maintained, they are expected to last at least twice as long as a shower liner. This also creates a downstream benefit of needing to use less chemicals for cleaning both the enclosure and your shower stall.

To help clean up the mess, NUUD proudly partners with rePurpose Global to aid in the recovery of plastic pollution and to promote a circular economy. Due to our partnership, we recover twice as much plastic from the environment as we use in our products.
